Thank you for publishing my sentiments, exactly! I'm trying to avoid any political musings on my own blog, but I feel a rant brewing just under the surface.
The "electability" question has been a problem for the Democratic party in the past.
In 2004, nobody voted for the candidate they wanted (Dean, Edwards [pre-affair]), because they weren't "electable" ... so they voted for Kerry instead, insuring that no electable candidate could stand up to Bush.
Obama is dynamic. Obama inspires people. Obama makes people want to vote for him. And I pray that he will surround himself with effective and competent people to overcome his shortcomings. He made a good start by selecting Biden as VP.
McCain made a poor decision for his VP candidate by choosing someone he thinks will make him more "electable" ... and in a campaign based on judgment, he has shown excessively poor judgment.
I always love when, after the election, people think that Another candidate could have won, as opposed to the one nominated. honestly it's a bunch of irrational, Retro-second guessing.
It's Just as possible, none of the candidates in 2004 could have beat Dubja... In fact could be More probable.
It sounds to me like the McCain "Poor Judgment MEME" is working.... so that is a good sign, Hope it lasts longer than the convention did..... Nobody pushes a MEME better than republicans.
In fact, I'd suggest that the candidate has to get over the publics shortcomings, Rather then the opposite.
Point being, to expect the Lemming public to do anything but be lemmings... is unreasonable.

I asked my self the "electability" question on primary day. And then asked myself, who I think would be the best president.
I just figured I was doing a disservice to the country by nominating a substandard nominee.
And the idea that the 80% of woman who want a pro choice ticket. Will move onto some "Pro-crazyperson ticket"..
But it does affirm the "Marginal Judgment" of mccain.
The saturday Wall street Journal, was SCATHING about his choice. I could not believe how much they hate mccain.
